Re: PLANNING APPLICATION No: 3/08/1821/FP
APP/J1915/A/09/2115767/NWF J. Day & Sons, Bridge Works, Station Rd., Bishop’s Stortford. CM23 3BL
I write to add a few comments to our previous letter of objection dated 24th March 2009.
In that letter we objected, in point 1, to the height of the proposed development. In their submission the appellants justify the height of the development by referring to the height of the buildings on the opposite side of the river.
This is precisely the reason for our objection regarding the height of the development. Both the Town and District Councils are eager to attract narrow boats, and others, to the river area and basin of the River Stort in the town centre. A development on the east bank of the river to the height of the existing buildings on the west bank would inevitably cause a ‘canyoning’ effect and make the entrance to the town most unattractive and unwelcoming.
All other comments and objections to the development are as our earlier letter.
Yours faithfully,Les Pinnell
